Getting started

Connect your mail and calendar

Lifebook is a real email client and a real calendar - not a copy of your accounts, but your actual inboxes and events, brought into one calm place and kept in sync. Here is how to connect them.

You do not move to Lifebook; you point Lifebook at what you already have. Your mail stays where it lives, your calendar keeps its home, and Lifebook simply gives you one quiet surface to work from - with your life areas joining the dots between them.

Your mail, every account

Add as many mailboxes as you like and triage them all in one Inbox:

  • Gmail and Google Workspace - your everyday Google mail.
  • Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail, Outlook and the rest.
  • Any IMAP mailbox - if your provider speaks IMAP and SMTP (nearly all do), Lifebook can send and receive through it.

Go to Settings › Mail and add an account. If your mailbox uses two-factor security - most Google and Yahoo accounts do - you will create a one-time app password rather than hand over your real one, and we walk you through exactly where to get it. Lifebook stores those credentials encrypted at rest, so not even we can read them.

Point Lifebook at the accounts you already have. Nothing moves; everything gathers.

Your calendar, always in sync

Lifebook has a calendar of its own that works for everyone with no account at all - add an event and it is simply there. And you can connect Google Calendar so your existing events flow in alongside it and stay in sync, rather than living in a separate tab you forget to check.

You can also subscribe to read-only overlays - your country's public holidays, or your team's fixtures - from Settings › Calendar, so the days you care about are always in view.

Why bring it together

On their own, mail and calendar are just two more apps to check. Together, under your life areas, they start to help each other: the email about a trip, the event it created, the task it left you and the note you made all sit in one place. That is the quiet point of Lifebook - less scattered, more in hand.
